Webinar Purpose:

Help ministries move from understanding ECAP’s expectations to confidently implementing parent equipping and developmentally appropriate child abuse prevention education – even when leadership or parental readiness is still developing.

Overview:

Policies, screening, and volunteer training are increasingly familiar components of ministry safeguarding. Equipping parents and providing age-appropriate abuse prevention education for children can be harder to translate into practice. Leaders may understand why these indicators matter while still asking: What should we teach? How should we communicate it? How do we gain parent and leadership support? Where can we begin if our culture is not yet ready for a comprehensive program?

Grounded in ECAP Standards 4.15 and 4.16, this webinar will offer practical, adaptable approaches for churches, schools, and ministries. Participants will consider biblically grounded and developmentally appropriate principles, communication strategies, and multiple implementation models – including meaningful starting points for ministries that are still building broader safeguarding support.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the purpose of Standards 4.15 and 4.16 and their role within a comprehensive safeguarding culture.
  2. Identify core principles of developmentally appropriate prevention education that preserve innocence while building discernment, boundaries, help-seeking skills, and confidence in trusted adults.
  3. Develop transparent, biblical, non-alarmist communication strategies for engaging hesitant parents and ministry leaders.
  4. Evaluate implementation models such as parent equipping, family-based learning, ministry safety expectations, integrated instruction, and comprehensive prevention curricula.
  5. Identify practical first steps appropriate to an organization’s current readiness while maintaining a path toward stronger safeguarding culture.
