We believe that child protection is important for ministry leaders because every person is created in the image of God. Start with a free assessment resource provided by ECAP to see how your Child Protection Program measures up. \n\n\n\nObjectives: \n\n\n\n\nRaise awareness for abuse prevention and child protection \n\n\n\nProvide ministry leaders with resources to assist them in prevention \n\n\n\nConnect ECAP with area churches \n\n\n\nSupport the work of Focus on the Family by strengthening churches and creating healthy places for kids to hear the gospel and grow in discipleship.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenters:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTheresa Sidebotham assists organizations in the U.S. and internationally\, with a special focus on employment law\, religious and nonprofit law\, and child safety. She advises on numerous misconduct investigations. She is also the founder of Telios Law PLLC. Theresa was mentored by judges at the Colorado Court of Appeals and worked at a large law firm serving religious institutions and doing general litigation before opening Telios Law. She has since gone on to represent a variety of businesses\, ministries\, churches\, and individual clients in matters ranging from child protection to employment to civil rights and more. Her cross-cultural experience helps her serve ministries and businesses well\, particularly in negotiating employment problems and conducting internal investigations into misconduct allegations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJeff Dalrymple is an organizational leader whose leadership experience includes roles in public safety\, higher education\, non-governmental organizations\, and parachurch ministry. Jeff served as a vice president at Southern Seminary in Louisville from 2008-2016. He is an elder at Sunrise Community Church (EFCA) and owner of Lumino Global Consulting and Coaching. In addition to implementing child protection programs at several ministries\, his experience includes team building\, development/fundraising\, hospitality\, international relations\, strategic planning\, and revitalization. A number so large leaves us asking\, What could I even do to help? \n\n\n\nIn his book Vulnerable: Rethinking Human Trafficking\, Raleigh Sadler\, president and founder of Let My People Go\, makes the case that anyone can fight human trafficking by focusing on those who are most often targeted. This book invites the reader to understand their role in the problem of human trafficking\, but more importantly\, their role in the solution. \n\n\n\nHuman trafficking can be defined as the exploitation of vulnerability for commercial gain. Using the power of story and candid interviews\, Sadler seeks to discover how ordinary people can fight human trafficking by recognizing vulnerability and entering in. \n\n\n\nAs vulnerable people\, we can empower other vulnerable people\, because Christ was made vulnerable for us. \n\n\n\nAbout Raleigh Sadler \n\n\n\nHuman trafficking can happen anywhere because there are vulnerable people everywhere. But what would happen if the local church began to notice those most at risk of exploitation in their communities? Raleigh Sadler believes that the local church is God’s answer to those most vulnerable. He is the founder and executive director of Let My People Go\, the author of Vulnerable: Rethinking Human Trafficking and the Let My People Go Handbook\, and the host of the MercyCast\, a podcast about learning the art of compassion through life’s adversity. \n\n\n\nHis passion is to see the local church fight global injustices\, like human trafficking\, by loving those whom traffickers most often target. He has almost 30 years of experience in teaching children of all ages.  After serving in the public school system for many years\, he was called to children’s ministry.  Upon joining the staff at Providence in 2013\, he rebuilt the children’s ministry – creating and implementing all policies and procedures. Under his leadership\, the children’s ministry experienced significant growth – starting at 130 kids and growing to more than 300 now on Sunday mornings. To support this growth\, he has established a volunteer base of more than 170 adults. He also created and founded Providence Academy\, a preschool that serves over 50 children per school year. He is responsible for the safety of children\, curriculum and volunteer recruitment for both ministries. DESCRIPTION:According to the CBC\, femicide is the killing of women or girls because they are female. According to a report published by the Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability\, 160 women and girls were victims of femicide in Canada in 2020\, compared to 146 in 2019. \nIn 90 percent of cases where the accused was identified\, the accused was male. Meanwhile\, indigenous women and girls made up more than one in five victims killed by a male accused. In cases where the relationship between the victim and accused was known\, 41 percent involved a current or former intimate partner\, the report found. \nWhat role can the community and church have in responding to domestic violence and violence against women? This webinar will look at up-to-date research findings regarding violence against women and appropriate responses to these crimes. We will also discuss topics of power differentials\, clergy misconduct\, and sexual harassment and the differences between men and women when dealing with violence against adults.
