DESCRIPTION:Child safety and abuse prevention are issues of Great Commission significance. If our goal is to make disciples\, we must also be good stewards of the precious resources that God has entrusted to us\, especially vulnerable image-bearers. Unfortunately\, abuse is a problem in our culture from which the church is not exempt. The good news is that there are steps that ministry leaders can take to protect children under their care. In this session\, we will cover the basics of creating a child protection program at your church including appropriate screening measures\, children’s worker training\, and response plans. Creating a child protection program can feel like a daunting task\, but ministry leaders should leave this session with resources and simple\, actionable steps to get started. \n  \n  \n \nHannah Bolick\nHannah Bolick currently serves as the Abuse Prevention & Response Coordinator for the SBC Executive Committee. She previously served as Communication Coordinator at the Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention (ECAP) and is on the Child Safety Team at Eastwood Community Church. She is a World Journalism Institute graduate and has a B.A. in English\, a B.A. in Communication\, and an MA in Strategic Communication from East Carolina University. Hannah is also the communication coordinator at Clarity Camp\, a discipleship-focused youth summer camp devoted to impacting the next generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. SUMMARY:Child Protection Cohort
DESCRIPTION:The aim of the Child Protection Cohort is to provide support for leaders of a child/youth-serving organization to increase the protection standards of their programs. The Cohort is a five-month program that equips leaders to consider\, develop\, implement\, and review safety measures that reflect the Child Safety Standards of the Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention. This will be accomplished through required readings of assigned books and cohort discussions designed to put knowledge into practice and aid in understanding the fundamentals of creating and implementing a child protection program. Cohort discussions are 1.5 hours\, each month\, for five months. Students are expected to have read the required reading before the discussion and participate during discussions.

DESCRIPTION:Our new Safeguards Cohort equips leaders of children like parents\, Christian educators\, and other caregivers to thoughtfully develop ways to create safer cultures and more discerning children while preserving innocence\, building wisdom\, and fostering trust within their communities.\n\nThrough collaborative learning\, guided discussion\, practical resources\, and biblically grounded frameworks\, participants will explore the unique role education plays in abuse prevention and child discipleship. The cohort is designed to help leaders thoughtfully consider how age-appropriate safeguarding instruction can equip children with discernment\, voice\, confidence\, and practical safety understanding in ways that are developmentally appropriate and rooted in a distinctly Christian worldview. Participants will engage with a national network of likeminded peers to explore how we can intentionally teach\, model\, and reinforce principles of safety\, wisdom\, and protection so that children are both nurtured and prepared to flourish within healthy Christian communities.

He preaches\, writes and engages in collaborative leadership to connect the Bible to the intellectual and cultural issues of the day. He regularly teaches in conferences and classrooms; addresses faith concerns with elected officials and public institutions; and provides theological and cultural commentary to leading news outlets.
