SUMMARY:Meet the Experts: Treading Boldly Through a Pornographic World: A Field Guide for Parents with Daniel Weiss and Josh Glaser
DESCRIPTION:Parents today are the first generation to raise kids in a digitally connected\, porn-saturated world. Porn can be accessed in locker rooms\, cafeterias\, classrooms\, and bedrooms—anywhere kids have access to digital devices. Worse yet\, pornography that was once considered fringe has become increasingly mainstream. All this is misshaping children’s understanding of sexuality\, stunting their capacity to process emotions\, and crippling their ability to form long-term relationships. In our upcoming Meet the Experts\, Daniel Weiss and Josh Glaser offer practical and spiritual guidance for parents seeking to help their teens navigate this pornographic digital landscape. Combining the latest research with personal and professional experience to guide families into the goodness for which God created us all\, the authors skillfully outline the steps necessary for parents to move beyond merely surviving pornography’s challenges onto a rewarding path where their children can truly thrive. \n\n\n\nAbout our Experts: \n\n\n\n\nDaniel Weiss is a writer\, speaker\, and visionary — passionate about tackling tough questions about sexual identity with depth and compassion. He has spent two decades helping church and community leaders\, educators and policy makers address complex situations surrounding sexual brokenness with hope and life-giving truth.     \n\n\n\nIn 2012\, Daniel established The Brushfires Foundation (now Sexual Integrity Leaders) to equip Christian leaders to foster sexual integrity in their churches and communities. In 2017\, Daniel headed a coalition of two dozen organizations that contracted Barn Group to conduct original research on how pastors and churches were addressing sexual issues. He serves as lead author of Sexuality & the Church in America\, a series of reports based on this Barna research. \n\n\n\n\nDaniel is coauthor of Treading Boldly Through a Pornographic World: A Field Guide for Parents (Salem\, 2021) and has authored chapters in the books The Decalogue Project: Disciples from Six Continents Engage God’s Ten Commandments and Opposing Viewpoints: Sexual Violence. Other writings have appeared in The Federalist\, The Washington Times\, The Denver Post\, Citizen\, and BreakPoint.com\, among others. He has given hundreds of print and radio interviews and has shared the air with radio hosts Alan Colmes\, Frank Pastore\, Janet Mefford\, and many others. Additionally\, he is featured prominently in the documentary film The Heart of the Matter: Finding Light in the Darkness of Pornography Addiction and has appeared on the Focus on the Family daily broadcast with Jim Daly. \n\n\n\nDaniel has given keynote addresses at In the Image of God: A Christian Vision of Love and Marriage at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne\, Indiana\, and the Utah Coalition Against Pornography conference in St\, George\, Utah.  He has also presented at the Capitol Hill Summit on Pornography: Obscenity Enforcement\, Corporate Participation and Violence against Women and Children and the Conference on Pornography at the National Press Club in Washington\, D.C. \n\n\n\nPrior to founding The Brushfires Foundation in 2012 and serving as its president\, Daniel was the senior analyst for media and sexuality and social issues manager with Focus on the Family for nearly nine years. \n\n\n\nDaniel and his wife\, Krista\, live with their five children on the family farm in rural Wisconsin. \n\n\n\nJosh Glaser is the Executive Director of Regeneration\, where he and his staff equip men and women to live out God’s good\, holy\, and beautiful design for relationships and sexuality. He is the creator of Awaken\, a four-part discipleship series for men pursuing sexual integrity\, the host of the Becoming Whole podcast\, and co-author of Treading Boldly through a Pornographic World: A Field Guide for Parents. Josh has been married to his wife\, Jamie\, for over twenty years\, and together they have six children. In his free time he enjoys Ultimate frisbee\, home-improvement\, and lingering over a meal with good friends. For more of Josh’s writing and ministry\, visit RegenerationMinistries.org.

SUMMARY:The Devastation of Child Abuse: Prevention\, Indicators\, and Our Responsibility
DESCRIPTION:Submit questions HERE! \n\n\n\nChild abuse. A heinous act against vulnerable individuals in our society. Addressing it is challenging but pivotal to the health of the next generation. \n\n\n\nSo\, how can we actively combat this problem? How can we spot signs of abuse? And what responsibilities do we have when we suspect it? How do we identify and address grooming behaviors linked to child abuse? \n\n\n\nBy the end of this discussion\, Christians will be equipped with the fundamentals of preventing\, identifying and responding to abuse whether it be in the church or in day-to-day interactions with children. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPresenter:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRebecca Santos joined ECAP at the beginning of 2023 after serving in Corporate America for 18 years in a variety of management\, consulting\, and event planning assignments. She has served for over five years at her local church in both Nursery Coordinator and VBS Director roles. Her role within ECAP is to create awareness by reaching out to our target market and educating them on how they can create an ironclad child protection program for their ministries. She presently resides in Jacksonville\, FL with her husband\, children\, and pets. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPanelists:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeann Benson is the Partnerships Manager at Protect My Ministry and has the privilege of partnering with many organizations to help the church as a whole. Bringing resources and helping the church to connect on a broader scale is something she loves to do. Leann has a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and has also worked in social work with at risk youth. This is why the area of child protection is of particular importance to her. She currently lives outside of Tampa with her husband and their dog\, Petey Boy. She enjoys walking her dog\, reading\, connecting with others\, puns and drinking coffee. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJeff Dalrymple is an organizational leader whose leadership experience includes roles in public safety\, higher education\, non-governmental organizations\, and parachurch ministry. Jeff served as a vice president at Southern Seminary in Louisville from 2008-2016. SUMMARY:Trauma & Abuse in the Church: A Biblical Response
DESCRIPTION:Stories like Mars Hill\, Willow Creek\, Harvest Bible Chapel and more demonstrate that we can’t assume church is a safe place\, even despite our best intentions. Pastors and leaders must seek to protect the flock entrusted to them and promote healing for those affected by physical\, sexual\, emotional\, or religious trauma. \n\n\n\nA 2019 Lifeway Study revealed that 10% of Protestant churchgoers under 35 have left a church because they felt sexual misconduct was not taken seriously. Almost half (44%) of Protestant churchgoers said they have been victims of sexual misconduct\, with 12% of those saying the misconduct happened at church. In order to reach the next generation\, pastors must be equipped to deal with the problem of abuse and lead their congregations to love and care for survivors. \n\n\n\nWe will host a discussion aimed to provide a biblical response to this critical issue. The panel will be composed of experts from various fields\, including pastoral ministry\, theology\, and counseling. We will seek to provide a Christian perspective on the nature of trauma and abuse\, the process of restoration and healing\, and our responsibility in abuse prevention. This discussion is sure to provide valuable insights for both individuals and churches alike.

SUMMARY:Meet the Experts: "On Guard" with Deepak Reju
DESCRIPTION:Deepak Reju’s On Guard: Preventing and Responding to Child Abuse at Church remains a classic on the topic of child protection and abuse prevention. Join us for a conversation to hear more about what Deepak has learned over the last decade since publishing the book. \n\n\n\nAbout our Expert: \n\n\n\nDeepak Reju serves as the pastor of biblical counseling and family ministry at Capitol Hill Baptist Church (CHBC) in Washington\, DC.  He did his theological training at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv\, PhD). Deepak and his wife\, Sarah\, have been married since 2001 and have five adorable children (Zachariah\, Lydia\, Eden\, Noelle and Abraham). Deepak is the author of several books\, including On Guard: Preventing and Responding to Child Abuse at Church\, She’s Got the Wrong Guy and Pornography: Fighting for Purity. You can follow him on twitter @DeepakReju or Facebook Deepak Reju. In his free time\, you can find Deepak playing a board game with his kids\, reading\, cooking\, coaching his son’s soccer team\, or on a date night with his dear wife. \n\n\n\nIn On Guard\, Deepak Reju examines why child predators target churches and offers eleven straightforward strategies to protect children from abuse and to help young victims recover if it does happen. While On Guard does provide practical help for building a child protection policy\, it provides much more. Full of pastoral wisdom\, On Guard recognizes that the church’s response to abuse must be more comprehensive in line with her calling than a simple legal policy or clinical analysis. On Guard moves church staff and leaders beyond fearful awareness to prayerful preparedness with an actionable plan. \n\n\n\nChurch\, be on guard! Child abuse can happen anywhere\, and we need a plan for how to prevent and respond to it. What’s yours?

SUMMARY:Child Protection Panel at the Southern Baptist Convention
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided. New Orleans Convention Center – Room R06-R09\, Level 2 \n\n\n\nJoin for a conversation on child protection and abuse prevention in ministry. Our panel will feature Jennifer Greenberg\, Dr. Deepak Reju\, Kris Buckman\, and Jeff Dalrymple. \n\n\n\nWe believe that child safety and abuse prevention is a Great Commission issue. If our goal is to make disciples\, we must also be good stewards of the precious resources that God has entrusted to us\, especially vulnerable image-bearers. Unfortunately\, abuse is a problem in our culture from which the church is not exempt. The good news is that there are steps that pastors and leaders can take to protect children under their care. At this event\, we hope to equip pastors and ministry leaders with the initial knowledge they need to understand the problem of abuse and what they can do about it. \n\n\n\nWe will answer questions like:  \n\n\n\n\nWhat is abuse? \n\n\n\nHow should we\, as ministry leaders\, prepare and respond to abuse?\n\n\n\nWhat does the bible say about stewardship and protection of the vulnerable? \n\n\n\nWhat is a child protection program\, and where do I start? \n\n\n\nWhat resources are available from ECAP and other providers to help me develop and sustain a child protection ministry at my church? \n\n\n\nPlus other questions submitted by attendees!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJump to sponsorship opportunities \n\n\n\nResources Offered to Attendees \n\n\n\n\nFree download of Church Law and Tax‘s Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Laws resource.\n\n\n\nFree copy of Children’s Ministry in a New Reality\, courtesy of Awana.\n\n\n\nOpportunity to receive a free ebook copy of Keeping your Children’s Ministry on Mission\, courtesy of Crossway.\n\n\n\nAn entry into a drawing for a free seat in the next virtual Certified Praesidium Guardian class\, valued at $3\,500. \n\n\n\nAn entry into a drawing for a free Policy Evaluation from Church Safety Guys\, valued at $1000.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGOLD SPONSORS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSILVER SPONSORS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBRONZE SPONSORS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMeet Our Panelists \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJennifer Greenberg is an author\, recording artist\, wife\, and mom of three. SUMMARY:Child Protection Training at Dallas Baptist University
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn more about abuse and child protection for ministry leaders. We believe that child protection is important for ministry leaders because every person is created in the image of God. \n\n\n\nFurthermore\, we believe that child protection is a matter of Great Commission significance and biblical stewardship. We want to help you create a safe place at your organization for children to hear the gospel and grow in Christ. Join us for lunch at Dallas Baptist University to learn the basics of child protection and tap into several resources to help your ministry protect the least of these. \n\n\n\nGet started by using our free self-assessment tools to find out how your ministry measures up against our child safety standards. \n\n\n\n\n\nMeet our Speakers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJenna Quinn has spent 18 years as a subject matter expert in child abuse prevention and has pioneered the national child sexual abuse prevention movement since 2004. She is an author\, TEDx speaker\, educator\, policy expert\, and the namesake of Jenna’s Law legislation on the state and federal level. Passed unanimously in Texas in 2009\, Jenna’s Law was the first child sexual abuse prevention education mandate in the U.S requiring K-12 sexual abuse prevention for students\, school staff\, and caregivers. She has worked with over 26 states to help implement prevention education policies. Jenna is also the executive founder of Reveal To Heal International nonprofit. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJeremy Herron was part of the expert panel that created the ECAP Child Safety Standards. He is also the director of Providence Kids at Providence Church in Frisco\, Texas. Using the experience he gained from years of reshaping and leading kids ministries\, Jeremy began to see that his impact on local churches could have a broader reach and the passion for keeping children safe could be instilled at ministries across the nation. Over time\, these conversations developed into Fortified Consulting to create a more formal approach to see every church\, school and ministry be stronger and safer for the children and youth in these programs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJeff Dalrymple is an organizational leader whose leadership experience includes roles in public safety\, higher education\, non-governmental organizations\, and parachurch ministry. Jeff served as a vice president at Southern Seminary in Louisville from 2008-2016. He is an elder at Sunrise Community Church (EFCA) and owner of Lumino Global Consulting and Coaching. In addition to implementing child protection programs at several ministries\, his experience includes team building\, development/fundraising\, hospitality\, international relations\, strategic planning\, and revitalization. \n\n\n\nSponsored by Fortified Consulting
