SUMMARY:Safeguards for Kids - Callahan\, FL
DESCRIPTION:1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. What can Christians do to change these disturbing facts? \nJulie Lowe argues that Christians must lead the way in prevention and response measures to keep kids safe and to respond with the hope of the gospel. Julie is a licensed professional counselor who brings over twenty years of counseling experience to help equip parents to become aware of this issue\, and equip their children to recognize\, respond\, and report immoral behavior from an adult. \nSafeguards 4 Kids will help parents and caregivers to have wisdom and discernment in parenting\, and will teach them how to have age-appropriate conversations with their kids about abuse and threats. In addition to Julie’s presentation\, we will also have mini-talks addressing human trafficking and internet safety for kids. \nJoin us\, so that you can safeguard your kids and equip them with the wisdom necessary to navigate a fallen world. \nThis event is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Each attendee will receive a copy of Safeguards by Julie Lowe! Read more about Safeguards below. \nRegister here!\nChildcare is not provided at this event. With the exception of nursing infants\, children are not permitted due to PG content and limited capacity. \n  \n\nJulie Lowe\nis a former faculty member at the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF). She holds an MA in counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary. She is a licensed professional counselor with over twenty-two years of counseling experience. She has extensive experience with marriage\, women’s issues\, sexual abuse\, body image issues\, parenting\, and child maltreatment issues\, and regularly speaks on these topics. Julie is a registered play therapist and has developed a play therapy office and resources to serve families and youth. She is trained in leading mandated reporter trainings and provides numerous trainings on child sexual abuse. Julie has a registered therapy dog that she works with both professionally and on a volunteer basis. Visit https://julielowe.org. \n  \n\nJeff Dalrymple\nis the Director of Abuse Prevention & Response for the SBC Executive Committee. Jeff has formerly served as executive director of the Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention; and as a vice president at Southern Seminary in Louisville. His leadership experience also includes roles in public safety\, higher education\, non-governmental organizations\, and parachurch ministry. He holds an undergraduate degree in organizational management from The Master’s University and a graduate degree in international relations & conflict resolution from American Military University. Jeff is based in Jacksonville\, Florida with his wife Kristil and their four children. \n  \n\nJodi Domange\nis the Chief Operating Officer at One More Child\, leading programs that serve vulnerable children and families across the U.S. and internationally. With over a decade of experience\, she has spearheded initiatives in foster care\, anti-trafficking\, and support for single mothers. Jodi is a nationally recognized expert in human trafficking prevention and child welfare\, partnering with law enforcement and communities to bring hope and restoration. \n  \n  \nHuman Trafficking\nHuman sex trafficking is the exploitation of a person for profit and the trauma it leaves in its wake is devastating. There are many myths associated with human trafficking and those myths distract us from what is really happening to our children right under our noses.  Every day in almost every city in America children are being sold for sex and we can stop it. In this session you will learn what human trafficking looks like in our country and what our response should be. You  We will cover ways to protect children and wrap around those in our communities with specific vulnerabilities. Ending sex trafficking is possible and it all starts with education. \nOnline Safety\n\nLike any tool\, the internet and our digital devices can be used for good and ill. Parents and caregivers should be on the front lines to protect children and youth from online threats and exploitation. Learn how to stay alert to virtual dangers and how to put measures in place to keep kids safe online. \nTeach safety\, supervise young children\, review games and apps\, adjust privacy settings\, warn about online dangers\, be alert to signs of abuse\, identify safe adults\, report incidents to the authorities. \n \n\nSafeguards\nBecause children are vulnerable\, they need to be protected. After more than two decades as a family counselor\, Julie Lowe has seen how important it is to help parents and caregivers think wisely and biblically about the dangers children face. Instead of living in fear or denial\, parents and caregivers can equip children to assess people and situations and model for them how to live by faith in a world where evil exists. \nLowe helps parents and caregivers teach the safety skills that will help protect their children from mistreatment\, unsafe situations\, violence\, bullying\, cyber-crimes\, predatory behavior\, sexting\, abuse\, and other kinds of danger that they might encounter. The safety skills that are needed at every stage—preschool\, elementary-age\, teens\, and college-bound—are discussed and applied in an age-appropriate way. \nSafeguards provides tools\, skills\, and resources to help when faced with uncomfortable\, challenging\, or dangerous situations. Instead of growing more anxious\, parents and caregivers can grow in a biblical understanding of the type of dangers and issues children and young people might face\, learn how to instill confidence and conviction in responding to new or fearful situations\, and distinguish safe vs. unsafe people and situations.

SUMMARY:Child Protection Program Basics Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Child safety and abuse prevention are issues of Great Commission significance. In this session\, we will cover the basics of creating a child protection program at your church including appropriate screening measures\, children’s worker training\, and response plans. Creating a child protection program can feel like a daunting task\, but ministry leaders should leave this session with resources and simple\, actionable steps to get started. \n  \n  \n \nHannah Bolick\nHannah Bolick currently serves as the Abuse Prevention & Response Coordinator for the SBC Executive Committee. SUMMARY:Clarity & Care Webinar: Why Every Ministry Needs a Code of Conduct
DESCRIPTION:A code of conduct is a formal\, policy-type document which outlines the ministry’s ethical and behavioral expectations and rules for leaders\, employees\, volunteers\, board members\, and anyone that may be representing the organization. A code of conduct is an important tool in educating your team for the purpose of ensuring ethical\, legal\, and behavior that meets the values and beliefs that shape the core identify of the ministry.  \n\n\n\n\nFor Christian leaders\, a code of conduct will typically reflect biblical and moral guidelines that help to build trust and shape culture. Regarding child and youth protection and abuse prevention\, a code of conduct is critical at communicating clear expectations that set the leader or team member up for success in their role.  \n\n\n\nIn this day and age\, codes of conduct are becoming common place and may include adherence to a statement of faith\, lifestyle positions\, ethical behavior including social media and often times defining inappropriate technology\, messaging\, and interaction\, especially when minors\, vulnerable adults\, and other key leadership expectations are established.  \n\n\n\nJoin attorney Lane Paulsen as she interviews Dr. Walter Kim\, president of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) for this important conversation about codes of conduct\, ministry\, and setting standards for leaders and workers in the twenty-first century. Our goal is to equip you\, pastor or ministry leader\, with the tools and resources to help keep your Christian ministry faithful to Scripture\, the gospel\, and our witness before a watching world. Dont miss this webinar and your opportunity to learn\, engage\, and join the conversation. Lane will present some key aspects for codes of conduct\, especially related to child protection\, and provide guidance on implementing your code. Dont miss her conversation with Dr. Kim about the importance of Christian character and conduct in ministry leadership. \nRegister Here!\n \nRegistration Fees:— Free for ECAP members— $25 for non-members  \n\n \n\nDr. Walter Kim\n\n\n  \nWalter Kim became the president of the National Association of Evangelicals in January 2020. He regularly teaches in conferences and classrooms; addresses faith concerns with elected officials and public institutions; and provides theological and cultural commentary to leading news outlets.
